Food and the arts allow me to connect with other people, across geographical boundaries & perceived differences. This manner of connecting is central to my work. I traverse boundaries as a participant observer, be it in my professional life where I attempt to bridge theory and practice or in the world of art where I work both in my studio and outside through my community arts projects or indeed even in my geographical locations. Through my art projects where food is often the theme, I invite people to reflect on our past, our present similarities and differences and in so doing move forward keeping in mind what William Carlos Williams writes:
“Their story, yours and mine – it’s what we all carry with us on this trip we take, and we owe it to each other to respect our stories and learn from them.”
